JOHN RUTTER
Mass of the Children
Dear Music Colleague:
It is with great pleasure that I write to invite you to join me at the iconic Sydney Opera House in a performance of John Rutter’s Mass of the Children.
Mass of the Children is John Rutter’s most magnificent, powerful and emotional composition. This work, completed in early 2003, and first performed at a Carnegie Hall concert, is full of promise. Many of the familiar and well-loved staples of Rutter’s music are here: the flowing melodies, catchy rhythms, and pop-tinged harmonies. Mass of the Children is an irresistible work, crafted with eloquence in Rutter’s own distinguishable sound. The soaring vocal lines of the combined choirs in the final movement are positively chilling!
I would be honored if you would consider joining me. This work is designed for mixed chorus and treble choir. Adult and youth choirs will enjoy joining in this intergenerational experience. On this occasion complete choirs are invited to tour and present their own individual programs staged along side of the Gala Concert. In addition, this wonderful piece offers the opportunity for a small group from within your chorus to travel together, create great music with the North American Festival Chorus and experience one of the world’s greatest concert halls.
Mass of the Children is a piece that celebrates the best of life and living. The spirit of this piece is contagious for performers and audiences alike! Please join me for this extraordinary experience.
Kind regards,
Eric Dale Knapp
