Italy with Joan Catoni Conlon - May 2015
'VIA MONTEVERDI' FESTIVAL - An unforgettable journey through music and time with Joan Catoni Conlon. Combined Festival concerts in Mantua, Venice & Rome, Sing Mass at St Peter's Basilica, Optional individual performances
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Travel the ‘VIA MONTEVERDI!’--a choral pilgrimage to sing at sites where, four centuries ago, Claudio Monteverdi revolutionized western music forever.
Mantua -- where the young, innovative composer performed his ‘new style’ of music for the Gonzaga nobility.
Venice -- where the celebrated composer wrote his famous sacred music, and also composed for the emerging Venetian opera stage.
Rome -- where we plan to sing at mass in the awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Basilica.
This tour follows the fabled footsteps of Claudio Monteverdi, the composer whose musical milestones changed music. A rare opportunity for you and your choir to visit and sing in some of Italy’s most beautiful and famous cultural centers, and to enjoy the extraordinary treasures of Venice, Rome, and Mantua—the birthplace of the Italian Baroque!
Both the combined festival choir and individual choirs will have a chance to perform at some of the truly remarkable venues in the world. Bring your choir or small ensemble on this unforgettable 10-day journey in late May, 2015; a journey through music and time.
I look forward to joining you and your choir, in this voyage to exceptional venues in Italy. I also look forward to sharing with you Italy’s incomparable cities, landscape, and its timeless art and architecture.
I hope to see you there!
