Athens | 3-Day Cruise

DAY 1: ATHENS 

Depart home and arrive in Athens. Clearing Greek customs and immigration, meet your KIconcerts Tour Manager and board the bus for the orientation tour of Athens with its famous Acropolis, Parthenon and the ancient Agora. This beautiful historic city with its architecture of the ages glowing under the Aegean blue sky, is the capital of Greece and was the epicenter of Greek culture. This culture, one of the oldest in the world, gave birth to democracy, science and the fine arts. A vibrant cultural life still plays out today amid ancient landmarks and creates a dance between the old and the new. Check into your hotel in time for a delicious Greek dinner, the first of your daily dinners. Overnight in Athens 

DAY 2: ATHENS 

After sampling the hot and cold breakfast buffet (offered daily), we board our bus for a sightseeing tour of Athens which reveals this marvelous city, a ‘Cradle of Civilization’. You will tour the Acropolis where there is an opportunity for a short, informal RECITAL The Acropolis played host to festivals and historically significant events during the peak of Athens’ power. Today it stands as an architectural masterpiece and source of national pride – perhaps the most famous site in Greece. We then move on to the Areopagus where we read St. Paul’s message concerning the “Unknown God”. In the afternoon we prepare for an EXCHANGE PROGRAM with a Greek ensemble (tbd). The Greeks are the most delightful hosts and new friends will be made even before the first of your tour CONCERTS. Overnight in Athens

DAY 3: ATHENS

Today, we visit the Acropolis Museum, a stunning archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the site and on the surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. Time for lunch in the Plaka with a chance to explore this bustling restaurant and café precinct before preparing for tonight’s CONCERT, again possibly with a local ensemble finishing with a combined finale (tbd). Overnight in Athens

DAY 4: PIRAEUS | MYKONOS

After checking out, you will travel to the port city of Piraeus to board our cruise ship (Celestyal Cruises). Lunch will be served (daily) on board the ship. The first stop is Mykonos, a vibrant island with its colorful harbor, all-white houses and windmills silhouetted against the blue Grecian sky. Mykonos is the most popular of the Greek Islands with its rich history, cosmopolitan flavor, and beautiful white sandy beaches. We will have time to explore this charming island before it is time to re-board the ship. Overnight on board

DAY 5: EPHESUS | PATMOS

After berthing at Kusadasi your tour guides will take us on a short bus ride to the breathtaking ruins of Ephesus said to be founded by Amazons. Once known as one of the richest cities in Asia Minor, Ephesus was a popular Roman resort, center of trade, commerce, culture, and religion. St. Paul spent three years walking its marbled streets. Our shore excursion includes seeing the giant theatre where the riot of the silversmiths occurred, the great Temple of Diana – one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and more. There is the possibility of an informal short RECITAL in the ancient amphitheater (tbd) before we re-board our ship and set sail for Patmos Island, home to the Monastery of St John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse – both World Heritage Sites. There is an option to take a shore excursion but many ensembles take the opportunity to rest after an active morning in Ephesus before rehearsing for a possible on-board CONCERT for other passengers (tbd). Overnight on board

DAY 6: CRETE | SANTORINI

This morning you awaken to a stunning morning in Crete, an island with an exquisite 1,000-kilometer-long glittering coastline dotted with numerous coves, bays, and peninsulas, affording a multitude of soft, sandy beaches along the beautifully blue Mediterranean Sea. We can stroll through the town while our tour managers share some of the extraordinary and unique history of this important island. In the afternoon we continue sailing to Santorini – one of the most magical of the Greek islands. It is a barren, rocky island with towns situated on high cliffs offering breathtaking views. As the sun sets, the reflection on the buildings and the glow of the orange and red in the cliffs paint the endless ocean horizon every shade of pink in a magnificent display. Explore the island and re-board the ship for our last night on the water.

DAY 7: PIRAEUS | CORINTH | ATHENS

Disembark at Piraeus port and continue to Corinth a site so important to Christianity and site of the breathtaking Corinth Canal. Returning to Athens we have time to explore a little more before our Farewell Dinner. Overnight Athens

Transfer to airport and travel back home or extend tour

Experience an informal RECITAL in the ancient amphitheater. Arrive on Patmos Island, home to the Monastery of St John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse – both World Heritage Sites. There is an option to take a shore excursion. Re-board the ship

DAY 4: RHODES

Glide into the beautiful harbor of Rhodes, which in ancient times was straddled by the famed Colossus. Reflecting Roman, Saracen, Turkish, Medieval, and Italian influences, this ancient city was captured by the Crusader Knights of the Order of St. John in 1307 and has barely changed since then. We travel back in time as we explore Rhodes’ Old Town in a walking tour which includes a visit to the Grand Master’s Palace. We return to the ship and re-board with a Possible on-board RECITAL for other passengers (tbd).

DAY 5: CRETE | SANTORINI

This morning you awaken to a stunning morning in Crete, an island with an exquisite 1,000-kilometer-long glittering coastline dotted with numerous coves, bays, and peninsulas, affording a multitude of soft, sandy beaches along the beautifully blue Mediterranean Sea. Option to stroll through the town where locals share their traditions and generous spirit or take an optional shore excursion. Continue to Santorini – one of the most magical islands of Greece. It is a barren, rocky island opposite an active volcano, with black and red beaches and towns situated on high cliffs offering breathtaking views. As the sun sets, the reflection on the buildings and the glow of the orange and red in the cliffs can be truly magnificent. Explore the island and re-board the ship for our last night on the water.

DAY 6: PIRAEUS | ATHENS 

Disembark at Piraeus port with a tour of Athens which reveals this marvelous city, the “Cradle of Civilization”. Tour the Acropolis where there is an opportunity for a short, informal RECITAL. The Acropolis played host to festivals, cults and historically significant events during the peak of Athens’ power. In today’s world, it serves as an architectural masterpiece and source of national pride. It is the most famous site in Greece. Stop at the Areopagus where we read St. Paul’s message concerning the “Unknown God”. We return to our hotel so that you can prepare for your CONCERT. Overnight Athens
