Vietnam Concert Tour 

DAY 1: DEPART 

Depart home 

DAY 2: HANOI 

Arrive at Hanoi airport and pass through customs/immigration. Meet your KIconcerts tour manager and enjoy an introduction to fascinating Vietnam en route to a city that is a great blend of Vietnamese and French classical architecture. After checking into your Hanoi hotel, you will enjoy one of the daily dinners served on the tour featuring local and western delicacies. Overnight Hanoi 

DAY 3: HANOI 

Breakfast is served buffet style daily providing a great start to the day. Today you will enjoy an introductory tour of the historic city of Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital and second biggest city. Visit the One Pillar Pagoda, a historic Buddhist temple built of wood on a single stone pillar then visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, dedicated to Confucius before touring Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum as well as his former residence. Later in the day you will have time to prepare for your CONCERT with an option for this first concert in Vietnam to be an outreach performance. Overnight Hanoi

DAY 4: HANOI

Visit the Museum of Ethnology to learn of the 54 ethnic groups that make up Vietnam, then travel by rickshaw through Hanoi’s lively Old Quarter. This bustling area of narrow streets is home to thousands of small shops and a great place for many unique photo opportunities. After time for lunch you will visit the scenic Hoan Kiem Lake featuring the tiny Tortoise Pagoda before preparing for an exchange program followed by a shared CONCERT. Overnight Hanoi

DAY 5: HA LONG BAY

Transfer to Ha Long Bay before boarding your comfortable cruise ship to sail the bay, one of Vietnam’s natural wonders. Ha Long Bay has so many unique features including the Ba Hang floating village you glide past and the chance to tour one of the recently discovered cave systems boasting truly extraordinary sights. You return to the boat in time for dinner and a chance to try fishing Vietnamese style for those who want to. Overnight on boat

DAY 6: HA LONG BAY | HO CHI MINH CITY

You are welcome to start your day with an optional Tai Chi class on the deck of your ship before breakfast. Continue sailing through the geographical wonders of this unique body of water especially marveling at the rock formations that have a timeless feel. Before you disembark the boat you will have brunch readying you for the transfer to airport and short flight to Ho Chi Minh City (still also known as Saigon). You transfer to your city hotel and check in. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City

DAY 7: HO CHI MINH CITY

Your introduction to HCMC includes a visit inside the Reunification Palace, a fascinating and important testament to the Vietnam War which your tour manager will bring to life as it is the experience of their parents’ generation if not their own. Continue to tour HCMC with a guided stroll around the Central Post Office built by Eiffel in the neoclassical style of the early 20th century. You will also see the elegant 19th century Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall built in the French colonial style and the Opera House from 1897 with an opportunity to walk through picturesque Chinatown, housing the Thien Hau Pagoda built in honor of the protective Goddess of Sailors. This afternoon you have the option for a WORKSHOP/CLINIC and perhaps a less formal CONCERT. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City

DAY 8: HO CHI MINH CITY

Your morning starts with a visit to the impressive Binh Tay Market and Giac Lam Pagoda, the oldest pagoda of the city with time to explore this city of such powerful contemporary resonance. The afternoon sees you transferring to a venue to meet a local ensemble and rehearse a joint finale piece for our final CONCERT of the tour. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City

DAY 9: MEKONG DELTA | HO CHI MINH CITY

Today is a fascinating sightseeing day starting with a drive to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta before embarking on a boat ride along the Mekong River marveling at the constant crisscrossing of the sampans. After disembarking the boat, you visit a traditional Southern Vietnam house made of coconut experiencing orchard farm life (tasting local tropical fruit) while watching a performance of Don Ca Tai Tu music before seeing rice paddies and experiencing the centuries old traditional rural life of Vietnam. On the drive back to HCMC there is an option to stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda one of the most beautiful ancient Buddha temples combining oriental and western architecture. To cap off a spectacular day (and tour) you will enjoy your farewell dinner aboard a river cruise on Saigon’s river. Overnight Ho Chi Minh

DAY 10: DEPART

Transfer to airport to return home or continue to Cambodia

 

Cambodia Extension 

DAY 10: SIEM REAP 

You will transfer to the airport for a short flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia where there will be time for lunch after landing. Tour the twin temples of Chau Say Thommanon and Tevoda, the unfinished temple-mountain of Ta Keo, the holy water basin of Srah Srang and the Banteay Kdei Monastery. Discover the fascinating Ta Prohm Temple nestled in the jungle, probably one of the most famous monuments along with Angkor Wat and the Bayon. Check into your hotel before dinner at a local restaurant featuring traditional Apsara dance. Overnight Siem Reap 

DAY 11: ANGKOR WAT | SIEM REAP 

Today is your day for touring Angkor Wat dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This magnificent-temple mountain, built by King Suryavarman II in the 12th century, is considered the masterpiece of Khmer architecture and art. You will then have the opportunity to visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a huge architectural complex with the famous Bayon Temple at its centre. This mountain-temple is still surrounded by 37 of the original 54 towers. Explore the Baphuon Temple which had been fully restored by a team of French archaeologists over 16 years before you return to Siem Reap for the last of the tour dinners. Overnight Siem Reap 

DAY 12: DEPART 

Transfer to the airport and depart for home
