Mozart Coronation Mass - Vienna & Prague June 2011
Perform under John Guthmiller in Vienna & Prague - immerse yourself in the history, the culture and the music of the area.
I made my first visit to Vienna and Prague in the summer of 1973, when I was a 21-year old college student on tour with my university choir. It was my first time outside the United States, my first time on an airplane, and my first experience of performing in the cities that nurtured great composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms. That trip literally changed my life.
Now, these many years later, I’m thrilled to be returning to these beautiful cities, cradles of Mozart’s genius, to conduct his “Coronation Mass”, K. 317. I can think of no better introduction to the transcendent glories of Mozart’s choral music than this gem of the Enlightenment. Please join me in two of the world’s great musical cities – Vienna and Prague, to experience the beauty and perfection of Mozart in his element.
